Abstract
•A new 50Cr6Ni2Y alloy steel powder was successfully designed and prepared by VIGA.•The 50Cr6Ni2Y alloy steel powder had good characteristics and DLD formability.•The dislocation and nano-sized (Fe,Cr)23C6 played a reinforcing properties effect.•The Orowan mechanism was the main precipitate strengthening mechanism.•This new alloy powder can meet DLD the sub-surface working layer of wear parts.
