In vitro quantification: long-term effect of glucose deprivation on various cancer cell lines

•Long-term (90 d) in vitro glucose deprivation was done on various cancer cell lines.•Most affected cell line: Tumorigenic MDA-MB-231, with minimum cell growth of 30% on day 26.•Least affected cell line: Non-tumorigenic MCF-10 A, remaining stable at 84% on day 34.•Long-term glucose deprivation affects different cancer cell lines differently.•A first in vitro attempt to establish the most therapeutic time for implementing adjuvant therapies was determined to be 26 d.
