Wear behavior of Zirconium-4 alloy after different irradiation damage level

•3 MeV Fe11+ ions are used to simulated neutron irradiation.•Effect of irradiation damage level on the wear behaviors of Zr-4 alloy was first studied.•Correlation between wear behaviors and microstructure, mechanical properties were studied.•The friction coefficient and wear rate of the irradiated samples increased obviously.
