Dynamic capture and accumulation of multiple types of magnetic particles based on fully coupled multiphysics model in multiwire matrix for high-gradient magnetic separation

•A fully coupled multiphysics model of the high-gradient magnetic separation process is developed.•A series of parameters can be changed in the model to predict the grade and recovery of HGMS.•Capture and accumulation are clearly revealed by the trajectories of multiple types of particles.•Single-wire has a much higher capture selectivity than multiwire matrix.
