Demonstration of Catalytic Properties of De-inking Sludge Char as a Carbon Based Sacrificial Catalyst

•Catalytic pyrolysis of wood biomass is studied in a TCR system.•De-inking sludge char was evaluated as a catalyst.•Hydrogen relative volumes and syngas yields were remarkably increased.•The oxygen content of bio-oil was significantly reduced.•A reduction in organic yields and PAHs were determined with the use of de-inking sludge char as a catalyst.
