Abstract
Using a metallic crystal as a medium for the fusion of light-element nuclei (hydrogen isotopes) into those of heavier elements, accompanied by a significant release of energy, is discussed. Since these reactions release more energy than any chemical ones by nearly seven orders of magnitude, using them as energy sources will open a new era in the history of civilization. The conductive crystal serves as an appropriate environment for the fusion-process and remains almost undamaged. In this paper, we rely on the extensive experimental data on the so-called "cold" nuclear fusion.
