Three-dimensional numerical simulation of saturated annular flow boiling in a narrow rectangular microchannel

•Simulation of three dimensional annular flow boiling in the narrow rectangular microchannel is achieved.•Simulation results are in good agreement with experimental data from previous researches.•The thin liquid film between the liquid-vapor interface and the heating channel wall is found to be a key factor for heat transfer performance.
