The objective of this study was to evaluate the prevalence of oral lesions diagnosed in the Stomatology Center of Dental Specialties. Study Design A total of 1039 medical records were evaluated from July 2008 to July 2017. One hundred fifty-three were excluded resulting in a sample of 886 medical records. Results The most prevalent diagnostic hypotheses in this study were inflammatory hyperplasia (14.96%), mucocele (7.13%), oral burning mouth syndrome (5.23%), fibroma (4.75%), and frictional keratosis (3.68%). The most common histopathologic diagnoses were: inflammatory hyperplasia (28.15%), mucocele (13.03%), fibroma (9.24%), squamous cell carcinoma (CEC) (7.56%) and papilloma (6.72%). The diagnostic compatibility, established through the comparison of the diagnostic hypothesis and histopathologic report, was 90.3%. Conclusions Our study reinforces the importance of a cautious clinical examination in order to construct the diagnostic process and establish treatment.
