Toxic potential of sewage sludge: Histopathological effects on soil and aquatic bioindicators

•Impact sewage sludge exposure on soil invertebrate and freshwater fish was studied.•Sewage sludge and their pathogens caused histological changes in both animals.•Soil and aquatic bioindicators were sensitive to low levels of toxins from solid waste.•Ecotoxicity tests are needful to clarify the risks of sewage sludge.
