Solid Modeling of Roller of Mecanum Wheel Based on Motion Analysis in SolidWorks

The precision of the roller curve of the Mecanum wheel affects the operating accuracy of the Mecanum wheeled mobile platform. Rollers designed with approximate roller curve equations such as circular arc, elliptical arc, and constant velocity spiral line have certain errors. However, the process of roller modeling by using parameterized equation of the precise roller curve is more cumbersome and complicated. In view of this problem, the basic structural characteristics of Mecanum wheel are analyzed, and the relationship between the structural parameters is obtained which can guide the design of Mecnaum wheel. In this paper, a method of using SolidWorks Motion to establish the accurate solid model of roller is presented, and the operation steps and key points of the method are introduced, and a Microsoft VBA macro is created for the parameterized design of roller. The accurate 3D solid model of roller for Mecanum wheel can be efficiently created using the method proposed in this paper.
