Passive Components Design Based on LTCC Technology for Front-End Module in Ka-Band

This paper presents a Ka-band front-end frequency conversion module. In the passive component design, a RF filter with the substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) structure is introduced. It can be completely buried in the LTCC substrate, and two transmission zero points are added to make it have high frequency selection characteristics. A probe-like structure is used to transmit the signal from the top-layer to the SIW cavity. The power divider with a stripline structure is used to connect the frequency conversion module to the multi-channel transceiver component. The surface-mounted GaAs thin film resistor connect to the power divider through a vertical metal via. These two types of passive structures are tested by a probe station. Finally, this paper analyzes the cause of the difference between the measured results and the simulation results.
