Prenatal stress and later metabolic consequences: Systematic review and meta-analysis in rodents

•Maternal stress was associated with reduced birth weight.•Catch up growth was not observed and body mass remained reduced.•Adiposity was decreased in offspring of stressed dams with no changes in leptin.•Increased blood pressure was associated to prenatal corticoid exposure.•Prenatal stress was not associated with changes in glucose or insulin levels.
