Genotyping, virulence genes and antimicrobial resistance of Campylobacter spp.isolated during two seasonal periods in Spanish poultry farms.

•Among other environmental factors, water supply might act as a source of Campylobacter contamination.•High diversity of C. jejuni was found among farms in two different seasons and geographical locations.•Pulse field gel electrophoresis is an essential tool to study the genetic relatedness of C. jejuni and C. coli populations.•C. coli strains showed a greater antimicrobial multi-resistance profile than C. jejuni.
