Abstract
Since the Oil and Gas industry crisis in late 2014, oil companies are increasing their focus on optimizing operations and reducing cost on upstream logistics. However, this effort must be followed by the concern of maintaining satisfactory logistics service to guarantee the continuity of the maritime units operations. The objective of this paper is to propose a different supply strategy that reduces the risk of diesel shortages in maritime units at Campos Basin, Brazil. The impacts of the new strategy on service level and cost are also taken into account. A discrete-event stochastic simulation model has been developed to consider the uncertainty components involved at the upstream logistics processes. Results show that the supply strategy designed enables the reduction of the risk of diesel unavailability, decreases the demand's lead time and requires fewer supply vessels.
