An adaptive QRS detection algorithm for ultra-long-term ECG recordings

•We introduce an adaptive QRS detection algorithm achieving a sensitivity of 99.90% and a PPV of 99.73%.•We validated the algorithm using a database of 14-day ECG recordings, as well as eleven standard ECG databases.•Features of our algorithm include adaptations to changes in heart rate and local amplitude estimates.•The algorithm is efficient and a good fit for long-term ECG monitoring, and the batch processing of large ECG databases.
