Trends in mitral valve surgeries. The landscape of mitral valve surgeries has changed over time and will continue to change with the introduction of MitraClip. Moreover, the patients undergoing mitral valve surgeries have changed as well. Patients undergoing surgery in 2016 are sicker with greater comorbidity burden than patients undergoing surgery in 2000.
