Abstract
•Remifentanil induces mechanical allodynia and thermal hyperalgesia.•Remifentanil increases spinal caspase-6 secretion and CCL21/CXCR3 expression.•Central caspase-6 inhibition reduces hyperalgesia and spinal expression of CCL21/CXCR3.•Pharmacologic blockage of CCL21/CXCR3 alleviates hyperalgesia.•Central CCL21 inhibition reverses the caspase-6 evoked allodynia.
