Hand-assisted Laparoscopic Nephrectomy: Evaluation of the Learning Curve.

•There is a significant decrease in operating time, blood loss, and length of stay in patients who underwent laparoscopic donor nephrectomy by an experienced laparoscopist.•No differences were found in complication and conversion rates between the group of transplants done before and after the learning curve was defined.•Hand-assisted donor nephrectomy is a safe option to offer this procedure in developing countries such as Colombia.•The results obtained by the transplantation groups are similar to what has been reported by other groups.
