Structure of the epiphytic bacterial communities of Macrocystis pyrifera in localities with contrasting nitrogen concentrations and temperature

•The seasonal variation in the structure of epiphytic bacterial communities differs between localities.•The temperature seems to act as one of the main environmental drivers on the structure of the epibacterial communities.•The genus Citromicrobium showed the highest abundance within the epiphytic bacterial communities of M. pyrifera.
