A novel self-powered aptasensor for environmental pollutants detection based on simple and efficient enzymatic biofuel cell

•A novel self-powered aptasensor system based on enzymatic biofuel cell is proposed.•It can be applied to detect atrazine (ATZ) with no need of external power supply.•The self-powered Pmax reaches 15.3 μW‧cm−2 and the ATZ detection limit 7.5 nM.•Outstanding selectivity, stability and real sample applicability is obtained.
