Abstract
•Higher temperature and pressure promoted the yield of H2 during pyrolysis of lignite.•The yields of PAHs increased drastically at elevated pyrolysis pressure.•Hydrogen transfer to light gas occurred during secondary pyrolysis reactions.•The findings of this study may lead to an alternative route for lignite conversion.
