Explication of physically and chemically treated date stone biochar for sorptive remotion of ibuprofen from aqueous solution

•Activated date seed derived biochars were used for Ibuprofen (IBP) remotion.•IBP moieties interacted with functional group of modified biochar.•Isotherm and kinetic studies on ibuprofen sorption using linear and non-linear model.•Non-linear model preferred over linear model towards sorption study.•Desorption and cost estimation study favoured the efficiency of the adsorbents.
