Preparation of MCM-41-supported Pd–Pt catalysts with enhanced activity and sulfur resistance for partial hydrogenation of soybean oil-derived biodiesel fuel

•MCM-41-supported Pd–Pt catalysts made for partial hydrogenation of BDF in H-FAME.•H-FAME is a new biodiesel fuel enriched in monounsaturated FAME for high blends.•Pd–Pt catalyst with Pd/Pt = 1 yielded the highest activity in synthesis of H-FAME.•Catalyst showed the highest sulfur resistance and lowest degree of oversaturation.•This H-FAME with proper composition can meet international fuel standards.
