Large-scale simulation of seismic wave motion: A review

We review key ingredients that are needed for high-fidelity simulation of earthquake-generated seismic waves in large regions. Specifically, we survey existing literature on wave-discretization methods, topography effects, seismic source modeling, domain truncation methods, and large-scale seismic wave simulations. We comment on key limitations of widely-used techniques, and speculate about future trends.
