Abstract
Incremental sheet forming is a die-less sheet metal manufacturing process for rapid prototyping and small batch production. In the forming process, the critical parameters are tool diameter, step depth, feed rate, and spindle speed, among others. In our research, these parameters, as well as a varying-wall-angle conical frustum model, were used on a commercially pure (CP) Ti sheet of 0.5 mm thickness. Using Taguchi-Grey relational analysis, our result shows that the parameter-condition combination that yields the best performance in our experimental conditions is as follows: a tool diameter of 6 mm, spindle speed of 60 rpm, step depth of 0.2 mm, and feed rate of 1,000 mm/min.
