In-situ XRD investigations of FeAl intermetallic phase-based alloy oxidation

•The oxidation behaviour of a FeAl intermetallic phase-based alloy was determined.•The formation of Fe oxides was noticed at a lower temperature range (400−700 °C).•The following γ → θ → α sequence of Al2O3 phase transitions was observed.•The partial spallation of the Al2O3 scale was noticed during the in-situ oxidation.
