Abstract
•Plastomes of seven species within Aeridinae (Orchidaceae) were completely decoded.•Fourteen small inversions were found in Orchidaceae for the first time.•All 11 ndh genes in the Aeridinae plastome were lost or pseudogenized.•Phylogenetic relationship of Aeridinae was discussed with plastome and 422 nrITS data.•Divergence times for major lineages of Orchidaceaewereestimated in this study using whole plastome data.
