Bioelectrochemical remediation of phenanthrene in a microbial fuel cell using an anaerobic consortium enriched from a hydrocarbon-contaminated site.
Journal of Hazardous Materials(2020)
Abstract
•A novel approach for the bioelectroremediation of phenantherene was studied.•A phenanthrene-coated electrode was used for bioanode development of a MFC.•The bioanode simultaneously acted to biodegrade phenanthrene and generate power.•Microbial community composition and FTIR data supported phenanthrene degradation.
