Temporal Netgrid Model Based Energy-Efficient Broadcast in Satellite Networks

In recent years, satellite systems have attracted explosive attention for their ability of providing seamless connectivity. Many satellite applications require the broadcast delay to be limited to a certain value. However, due to the high-speed movement of satellites, the network topology changes frequently, making the broadcast routing problem NP-hard. In this paper, we study the delay-constrained minimum energy broadcast problem in satellite networks. Considering the limited-sources in satellite systems, in order to reduce computation complexity and storage requirements, we propose the temporal netgrid model based multi-power level flow graph (MLFG) to describe the time-varying topology instead of using existing space-time graphs. Based on MLFG, an iterative algorithm is proposed to minimize the broadcasting energy consumption while satisfying the delay requirement. Simulations show that our proposed scheme can achieve higher energy efficiency while comparing with other existing methods.
