Abstract
A 2-D tapered microstrip series-fed patch antenna array with wide bandwidth is presented. First, a series-fed antenna sub-array consisting 10 patch antenna elements with tapered width is demonstrated to obtain -20 dB SLL in the E-plane. Then, multiple slots are used in the patch design to enhance operational bandwidth. Finally, an 8x10 antenna array fed by three-stage T-junction power divider with Taylor distribution is presented. The antenna array realizes a pencil beam with 5.1% fractional bandwidth, less than -20 dB side lobe level in E and H planes.
