Curative activity of possible biocontrol agents in the postharvest of yellow pitahaya and organic banana

•Fungal strains isolated from yellow pitahaya and organic banana were identified.•Possible biocontrol yeasts, from tropical fruit, were isolated and identified.•Yeasts efficacy against fungus was related to their storage population dynamics.•Potential biocontrol agents did not affect fruit physicochemical quality.
