Meanwhile, this method specifies a theoretical initial wavelet and calculates cumulative Q factors, then finds inter-laminar Q factors using the relationship between Q and the offset (QVO) and the Dix formula. Since the frequency spectrum of each horizon can be extracted continuously on a 2-D time-frequency spectrum, this method is defined as “CONTINUOUS” spectral ratio slope (CSRS) method. Comparing with the former Q inversion method that calculates inter-laminar Q factors after picking horizons, this method provides convenience for calculation, definitive mathematical and physical meanings, and stability for calculating spectrum ratio. A numerical modeling was demonstrated to verify the feasibility of this method. Also, this method was applied in actual CMP gathers of an oil-field in Ahdeb, Iraq. The result shows that this new method can effectively enhance the resolution of Q section elaborating the absorption ability of strata, reflecting abundant internal information, possessing stable lateral distribution, which provides a reliable basis for lithology prediction and fluid identification.Presentation Date: Tuesday, October 16, 2018Start Time: 8:30:00 AMLocation: 210A (Anaheim Convention Center)Presentation Type: OralKeywords: Q, prestack, spectral analysis, decompositionPermalink: https://doi.org/10.1190/segam2018-2995781.1FiguresReferencesRelatedDetails SEG Technical Program Expanded Abstracts 2018ISSN (print):1052-3812 ISSN (online):1949-4645Copyright: 2018 Pages: 5520 publication data© 2018 Published in electronic format with permission by the Society of Exploration GeophysicistsPublisher:Society of Exploration Geophysicists HistoryPublished Online: 27 Aug 2018 CITATION INFORMATION Zongwei Wu, Yijia Wu, Minghua Xu, and Yijia Wu, (2018), "Q estimation on CMP gather based on continuous spectral ratio slope method: A Case study in Ahdeb Oil Field, Iraq," SEG Technical Program Expanded Abstracts : 1544-1548. https://doi.org/10.1190/segam2018-2995781.1 Plain-Language Summary KeywordsQprestackspectral analysisdecompositionPDF DownloadLoading ...
