Laser peening process introduces high level of compressive residual stress and beneficial microstructures (dislocations, dislocation cells, dislocation walls, dislocation entanglements) in the superficial layer of treated TC4 alloy, and effectively inhibiting the initiation and propagation of hydrogen-induced cracks.
