Geochemistry and provenance of siliciclastic rocks from the Mesoproterozoic Upper Vazante Sequence, Brazil: Insights on the evolution of the southwestern margin of the São Francisco Craton and the Columbia Supercontinent

•Integration of lithogeochemistry and detrital zircon U – Pb dates to constrain provenance.•Upper Vazante detritus derived mainly from Paleoproterozoic continental arc rocks.•Sediments were deposited in a Mesoproterozoic rift.•This region was involved in buildup and breakup of Columbia Supercontinent.
