Abstract
•The strength of the synthesized metal composite sample was 2200–2400 MPa, the total fracture strain of ~4%.•The material for the powders was obtained by the method of self-propagating high-temperature synthesis.•When the volume content of the reinforcing micron-sized particles is increased up to 60%, there is a qualitative change in the mechanisms of the deformation of the metal-ceramic sample that was stressed by compression.
