Improving sepsis care for hospital inpatients using existing medical emergency response systems

•Sepsis is a medical emergency; timely management has been shown to reduce mortality.•A medical emergency team was harnessed to improve management of suspected sepsis for deteriorating hospital inpatients.•The intervention resulted in an increased compliance with the sepsis resuscitation bundle Q9 within 1-h of MET call.
