摘要

•Rats treated with DMBA show increased frequencies of CD59-deficient BMEs.•CD59-deficient BMEs from DMBA-treated rats have mutations in the Pig-a gene.•The spectrum of Pig-a mutations is consistent with the properties of DMBA.•BMEs are precursors of RBCs, mutant BMEs are precursors of CD59-deficient RBCs.•Mutant-phenotype CD59-deficient RBCs are Pig-a mutants.
