摘要
Introduction: To analyze the probable beneficial influence of interrupting the sympathetic impulses to the modulation of the insulin receptor sensitivity. After performing the experimental model of the metabolic syndrome in rats, we evaluated if bilateral splanchnicectomy elicits a beneficial effect on both glycemia and insulin receptors sensitivity. Methods: Sprague Dowley male rats (150-200 g; n=36) were divided in 3 groups: control (C; n=12), sham (Sh; n=12), and bilateral splanchicectomy (Spl; n=12). Half of each group was given fructose in the drinking water (w/v=10%), CF, ShF, SplF. Purina was of offered ad libitum. When reaching the 25-week period, by means of a catheter inserted in the jugular vein, glycemia and insulinemia evaluation (basal, 30, and 60) was performed. A parametric Turkey statistical analysis was applied. Results: They were expressed as percentage increase in respect to the control values (Table 1). The analysis disclosed that the basal glycemia values do not differ significantly. In contrast, CF and ShF group developed insulin resistance, reaching a peak level of >60% in respect to the C. This type of response was not observed in the Spl and SplF groups.Table 1Conclusion: We postulate that sympathetic denervation induces a rise of the intrahepatic cholinergic tone which leads to an enhancement of the Lautt’s HISS factor with its well-known enhancing influence on insulin receptors sensitivity. Its validation in humans might provide an alternative therapeutic simplification of bariatric surgery.
