摘要

•Substituted anthraquinones (AQ) were studied in non-metallic oxidation of alcohols•The alcohols were converted to carbonyl compounds using oxygen as terminal oxidant•Intermediate potentials of AQ (∼0.2 V) provided highest activity and selectivity•This effect is result of balance of hydrogen transfer to AQ and from AQ to oxygen•Grafted AQ demonstrated comparable catalytic performance to the parent molecule
