Surface modification of AZ61 Magnesium Alloy with Nano TiO2/Al2O3 using Laser Cladding Technique

摘要
This present work focuses on improving the physical properties of the AZ61 magnesium Alloy reinforced with nano TiO2 and Al2O3 through CO2 Laser cladding technique. AZ61 is chosen as substrate and nano TiO2 and Al2O3 were used as reinforcements with different volume fractions (5, 10 and 15%) at a constant speed of Laser movement. The physical properties such as wear behaviour, hardness, corrosion were evaluated on the surface modified AZ61 alloy and concluded that nano TiO2 reinforced surface modified AZ61 alloy performs better than nano Al2O3 reinforced alloy, finding it useful in aerospace and marine applications with high durability.
