Abstract
In this paper, a solution to perform real-time simulations of power electronic systems on National Instruments (NI) platforms is proposed. This approach utilizes embedding a simulation solver engine into LabVIEW FPGA Virtual Instrument applications which execute on Field-Programmable Gate Array devices on the NI platforms. The simulation solver engines are implemented with the Latency-Based Linear Compound (LBLMC) simulation methods to allow as low as 50ns time step simulations in real-time. An example simulating a ship zonal system on a NI CompactRIO platform is presented, showing the capabilities of the approach.
