Clinical and pharmaceutical applications of affinity ligands in capillary electrophoresis: A review

•A review is presented on the topic of affinity capillary electrophoresis (ACE).•Various binding agents are used in this method, ranging from antibodies to cyclodextrins.•Applications include CE immunoassays, chiral separations, and biointeraction studies.•It is shown how these formats can be used in clinical or pharmaceutical analysis.•The principles, advantages and possible limitations of these formats are described.
