UV-curable self-healing polyurethane coating based on thiol-ene and Diels-Alder double click reactions

•Traditional UV-curable coatings are fragile owing to the fast curing and high volumetric microstructures and it is vital to introduce self-healing properties.•There is a growing urgency to develop self-healing materials with faster healing rate and lower healing temperature.•A new type UV-curable coatings system by the combination of Diels-Alder and thiol-ene click, which exhibits faster speeds and lower healing temperature is presented.
