Fabrication of biomimetic hydrogel via hydrazone reaction for chondrocyte delivery

•A novel biomimetic hydrogel was fabricated based on Col I and HA-CHO/CS-ADH.•The gelation occurred with the formation of hydrazone bond at mild conditions.•The physical properties of hydrogels could be adjusted.•Hydrogel C8CH showed good cellular biocompatibility and biological function.
