Cardiac hydatid cyst in the interventricular septum: A literature review

•Cardiac echinococcosis is an uncommon disease and the interventricular septum is rarely involved.•Echocardiography is the initial modality for the diagnosis.•Computed tomography scans and magnetic resonance imaging provide a detailed characterization of the cysts.•Albendazole is used for preoperative sterilization and during the postoperative period to prevent recurrence.•Surgical excision is performed in the vast majority of cases and is associated with a high rate of complete recovery.
