Abstract
Based on the conventional dipole antenna, a new broadband antenna with high gain working at the L- and S-band has been designed, which is composed of a metallic cylindrical cavity filled with dielectric and a pair of dipole patches fed with balanceable coaxial input. The simulations and optimization have been carried out with three-dimensional full-wave electromagnetic simulation. Results demonstrate that it has a good impedance matching (VSWR<;1.5) with a relative bandwidth of 46% from 1.67 to 2.67 GHz, and the gain increases from 6.72 to 9.67dB over the operation frequency range.
