In this work, we show two alternative encoding strategies to the conventional polarity encoding in time domain: In the first, we encode each shot applying a random static shift; In the second, we encode each shot applying a random phase rotation of the seismic wavefield. The velocity updates are carried out with the restarted L-BFGS algorithm. In order to test the proposed encoding strategies, we used the Marmousi model. To show the efficiency of the encoding strategies, we compared with the known polarity encoding strategy.
