The PS-wave images produced by this workflow are fully correlated with the PP-wave images where both can be produced in the same coordinate system without any squeezing. The correlation between PP and PS images provides cross-validation and estimation of underground rock and fluid properties. In this workflow, there are two essential new supporting techniques. The first one is decoupling the S-wave information by generating CFP (common focus point) gathers via applying the P-wave velocity on the PS seismic data, and the second is to pick an optimal Vp/Vs ratio on the newly proposed Vp/Vs ratio semblance spectrum. The S-wave velocity, computed from the picked optimal ratio, can be used for generating not only the PS-wave images, but also for ensuring the PS image well correlated to P-wave image.Presentation Date: Monday, September 16, 2019Session Start Time: 1:50 PMPresentation Time: 2:40 PMLocation: 225CPresentation Type: OralKeywords: 3C, converted wave, elastic, shear wave (S-wave), inversionPermalink: https://doi.org/10.1190/segam2019-3203782.1FiguresReferencesRelatedDetails SEG Technical Program Expanded Abstracts 2019ISSN (print):1052-3812 ISSN (online):1949-4645Copyright: 2019 Pages: 5407 publication data© 2019 Published in electronic format with permission by the Society of Exploration GeophysicistsPublisher:Society of Exploration Geophysicists HistoryPublished Online: 10 Aug 2019 CITATION INFORMATION Hongwei Liu, Mustafa Al-Ali, and Yi Luo, (2019), "CFP-based shear wave velocity model building using converted waves," SEG Technical Program Expanded Abstracts : 2679-2683. https://doi.org/10.1190/segam2019-3203782.1 Plain-Language Summary Keywords3Cconverted waveelasticshear wave (S-wave)inversionPDF DownloadLoading ...
