Metamorphic records in the Lüliang metapelites of the Jiehekou Group: implications for the tectonic evolution of the Trans-North China Orogen, North China Craton

•Metapelites exposed in southern Lüliang complex preserve spectacular symplectite.•Metapelites record clockwise P–T paths with near-isothermal decompression.•Peak conditions experienced by metapelites reach up to 750 °C and 7.0 kbar.•The peak metamorphism occurred at 1960–1900 Ma.
