Health impact assessment and health equity in sub-Saharan Africa: A scoping review

•Through a scoping review, we examined 62 peer-reviewed articles and nine guidelines for equity in HIA in sub-Saharan Africa•Health was addressed in about half of the publications and in all guidelines•Specific subgroup analysis, as a measure of equity, was pursued in a third of the publications•Evidence suggests that HIA is an approach that can reduce health disparities
